A counter keeps two things a billing app does not: a batch with an expiry date, and a register an inspector reads.
The shop counter, and a different business from the hospital even when the same family owns both. Ringing up a sale, dispensing against a prescription, the credit book, the day book, stock in and stock out, expiry, and the statutory registers a drug inspector asks for. It carries over-the-counter goods as well as medicines.
Who uses it: The medical shop — the owner, and whoever is standing at the till
What is on the screen today.
Every line below is a screen that exists, grouped as the module groups it. The count comes from the same build register the published status page reads.
11 of 11 serving today CBS Counter is 100% complete against its own screen list. The whole of it, screen by screen with the testing protocol, is in the user guide.
Counter
- Counter sale Counter sale — discount, khata credit and tender modes, over the till API
- Prescription queue Prescription queue across Medico, paper and photograph sources
- Day book Day book, including the held-bill sync queue
- Khata — credit accounts The shop's credit book — customer accounts, credit limit, what is owed and what was collected. A limit of zero, the default, means cash only; a walk-in with no account must pay in full
Stock
- Item master Item master with composition provenance and per-item GST
- Receive stock Receive stock, distributor invoice reconciled
- Purchase Reorder by days of cover rather than by shortfall. The shop's own purchasing, separate from DK-08 since the ledgers are separate
- Expiry board Expiry board and dead stock
- Stock take Stock take and variance
Law and business
- Statutory registers H1 and X registers with the printed PDF. Whether Karnataka requires a bound register is still to be settled with a working shop
- Owner metrics Owner metrics — valuation, reorder, dead stock, takings
It will not decide which registers your shop is required to keep. CBS ships a model for the jurisdictions it has researched, and the shop corrects it at onboarding — the retention, the register names and the rule cited on the page are then the shop's own answer, not ours. A product sold across borders cannot impose one state's procedure on every counter.
True of Counter, and of no other module
- The shop's ledger is separate from the hospital's consumable store by design, ruled on 2026-09-11. Two businesses, two stocks, two sets of books — one login.
- Schedule H1 and Schedule X registers print as PDFs. Whether a particular state also requires a bound paper register is a question still to be settled with a working shop.
Where the data comes from
- Purchase invoices in, as goods received — batch, expiry, MRP and purchase rate.
- Prescriptions on paper or photographed, which is how most of them arrive.
- Nothing leaves for a shop owner's own backup that identifies a patient. That boundary is enforced in code, not by convention.
One record underneath, four doors onto it.
A patient registered at the front desk in Dock is the same patient the clinician opens in Medico, the same record the family reads in Care, and the same patient the pharmacy serves at Counter. No module holds its own copy.
The hospital management system: registration, beds, theatre, billing, the laboratory, the store, the roster and the audit trail — everything that belongs to the establishment rather than to one clinician or one patient.
FeaturesThe doctor's own tool for the day's events, for communication with the hospital, the care team and the patient, and for AI-assisted consultation — the queue, the consultation, the prescription, the ward round, the discharge narrative and the earnings statement, carried across every establishment they practise at.
FeaturesThe patient's own door: appointments, medicines, the reports and bills the hospital has released to them, the people looking after them, and the check-in, fall and SOS from the device at home.
FeaturesSee CBS Counter against your own way of working.
Thirty minutes, your own case, and an honest answer about whether it fits the way your establishment already runs.
