Attendance devices

Fingerprint, face, card or PIN devices. Their punches become attendance marks beside the duty roster. The device keeps the fingerprint or face; CBS receives only who punched, when, and on which device.

Upload a file from the device

For a device that only exports a file from its own software. Save it as CSV (comma, semicolon or tab separated); the first line names the columns.

device_user_id — the number on the device. Also read as User ID, AC-No, Enroll No, Emp ID or Badge No.
timestamp — date and time, e.g. 2026-10-27 08:05:00 or 27/10/2026 08:05. Or two columns, date and time. Read in the device's timezone.
direction (optional) — in, out or unknown. Also read as State, In/Out or Check type, with C/In, C/Out, 0 for in and 1 for out.

Uploading the same file twice counts each punch once.

Grace period and recompute

A punch counts for a shift from two hours before it starts to four hours after it ends, night shifts included. Arriving later than the start plus the grace period is late; leaving earlier than the end less the grace period is early leave. Somebody rostered, with a mapped number and no punch, is absent once the shift is over. A punch with no shift is shown as unrostered, never rejected. A mark typed by hand is never overwritten.
